The Chilhowie Band Boosters were proud to once again partner with Emory & Henry College and the Emory & Henry Music Department for the event. This marks the second year of sustained visiting band attendance, aided by band programs who return to compete at Chilhowie year after year. Each year, organizers focus on creating a highly enjoyable experience for the attending students and directors, which they directly attribute to the continued enrollment and growth of the competition.
Sullivan South High School Band from Kingsport, TN was awarded the prestigious Pat Miller Championship Cup, which is presented to the band with the highest overall score of the day. The band is under the direction of Kenneth Carrico and competed with their 2015 program “Sea to Shining Sea”. The award was presented by Dr. Mike Robinson, Smyth County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Matt Frederick, Emory & Henry Director of Bands, and Mr. Mike Sturgill, Chilhowie High School Principal. Next year's competition will take place on September 24, 2016 and promises to be yet another great year of friendly competition!
